Permanent Make-up that is both safe and medically approved, Like a Tattoo

Permanent Make-Up

What makes it different? Rather than ink, we deposit hypo-allergenic pigments into the dermal layer of the skin, we work at a depth of no more than 1mm into the skin, a traditional tattoo is 3mm below. The procedure lasts 18 months to 3 years, with annual top-ups for colour depth. The pigments we use are natural iron oxide and non-reactive, however, a full consultation and patch test for pigment and a topical anaesthetic are required. We use a digital machine with a handpiece and one-use sterile needles. Hygiene comfort and care of the client is paramount to us, we always follow Glasgow’s City Councils Licence regulations and conditions. This state-of-the-art treatment is a hit with many celebrities who hate been photographed without their makeup, so what is good enough for them is good enough for us! Apart from the aesthetic side, Permanent Make up can truly boost confidence, self-esteem, save money and time drawing on brows every day.

Who would benefit from Permanent make-up?

Everyone from sports professionals, businessmen/women, people with bad eyesight or unsteady hand and busy people who do not have time to spend applying and topping up makeup. All these candidates including chemotherapy, alopecia and people who suffer from allergies to make up will benefit.

Is it painful and what will I expect afterwards?

Clients may experience slight discomfort some might not and often familiarise it with threading technique. We use a highly effective anaesthetic to the numb area beforehand and top it up during the procedure, our needles are best in market-creating less trauma, bleeding, and bruising. All procedures are two-part. The second within 8 weeks, of first initial treatment. The colour will be 40-50% darker after the first treatment. Clients may experience redness, tightness, tenderness, flaking and scabbing within a week after treatment. The area needs to be kept free from makeup, products, saunas, sunbeds and chlorine. It is important clients follow aftercare to prevent the risk of infection and to keep their new procedure lasting longer.

How long do Permanent brows last?

This differs from each client. Skin is the ultimate decider, not the tech! We can give you a rough guide but as no two skins are the same an accurate prediction is hard. The skin first decides if you can have the procedure, considering what health issues and medication along with skin conditions can all affect the skin and decision.
Oiler skin types (clients with open pores) excrete too much oil, meaning the skin will not hold pigment as long and your desired result such as hair stokes may not be suitable.
Along with being a qualified permanent tech, I specialise in the skin which helps greatly. I can advise as best as I can. Some occasions it is just not the best option, I always think of heeled result and I am always honest to my clients.
If I don’t think it’s going to be a good heeled or safe procedure – I will say no!

Are there restrictions and risks?

If your over 18 we hold absolutely no age restrictions with age, in fact, 60% of our clients are of mature age! There are some medical conditions, skin conditions, medications that can contraindicate but we offer a free consultation. This answers questions, allows us to talk through procedure and ascertain your suitability.

Like any cosmetic procedures, there can be risks, aftercare is crucial to avoid infection. As is not picking any crusts. A very detailed consultation form is filled in ruling out any contraindications and risks.

What will be involved?

Your first visit is two-part, second, being 4/8 weeks after the first and in some cases, a third treatment may be required. There is a healing time involved where you can expect some flaking, dry skin looking scabs, itching. Patience is the key to healing as they can be patchy and inconsistent with colour in between two procedures.
Once complete colour boosts are required every 12/18 months again dependant on skin.

I stencil on a shape prior to tattooing and we decide the style and technique of your brow, Hair strokes, my signature Dusted (a combination of strokes and shading)

Aftercare is simple and instructions will be given. A patch test will be required prior to your procedure also as is a pre-assessment question.

I have fully qualified to an advanced level offering correction work also; I have been lucky to train with some of the best techs in the world and continue my passion and updating skills throughout the years.

You are in the safest hands when choosing Claire as your tech, however, it is important to be truly open and honest about and conditions/medications you may be taking. These can greatly cause reactions/trauma/scaring and undesired results. Contraindications are conditions or factors that will prevent a certain treatment from going ahead. Although rare, there are many risks you must consider when thinking about having any SPMU procedure.

  1. The pigment may migrate under skin.
  2. The pigments will fade and require retouch.
  3. A negative allergy test will not guarantee that you will not have an allergic reaction to pigments and or anaesthetic.
  4. Infections can occur if correct aftercare is not followed.
  5. You may experience minor bleeding.
  6. Corneal abrasions may occur during eyeliner treatments.
  7. Clients having lip procedure who have had previous problems with cold sores may have an outbreak after the procedure.
  8. Possible scarring, the inconsistency of colour and loss of eyelashes may occur
